Privacy policy

Last updated: 2026-09-14

Summary

RoadSonic does not collect, store or share any personal data. There is no RoadSonic account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Everything the app knows about your music lives on your devices. Applies to RoadSonic for iOS, iPadOS and CarPlay, published by Emmanuel BORGES (EBLab), France.

Data we collect

None. RoadSonic has no server of its own and never receives your library, your listening history, your credentials or any identifier. Its App Store privacy label is “Data Not Collected”.

Data stored on your device

Server credentials and tokens (OpenSubsonic, Plex, Jellyfin, Emby) are stored exclusively in the iOS Keychain and are never written to logs, databases or CarPlay. The library index, favorites, play counts, history, playback queue and settings are kept in a local SQLite database inside the app container. Audio cache, downloaded albums and imported local files are stored in the app's own storage, excluded from iCloud backup. Enrichment data (artwork, lyrics, biographies, popularity) is cached locally with its source and licence. Settings › Data › Delete all data erases all of the above, including Keychain entries.

Services your device talks to

RoadSonic only contacts the following, directly from your device and only for the stated purpose; none of them receives a RoadSonic user identifier. Your own music servers (OpenSubsonic/Navidrome, Plex, Jellyfin, Emby): library sync, streaming, artwork, lyrics, favorites and play reports according to the server's own settings — their privacy practices are theirs. plex.tv, only if you connect a Plex account, for the official PIN sign-in and server discovery; RoadSonic never receives your Plex password. Apple Music (MusicKit), only if you connect it and with your explicit authorization, to search the catalog, read your Apple Music library and play tracks; Apple's privacy policy applies. Public metadata: community popularity, Cover Art Archive and MusicBrainz identifiers (artwork), LRCLIB (lyrics), Wikidata and TheAudioDB (artist biographies and images), the iTunes Search API (latest releases) and Ticketmaster (upcoming concerts) — requests contain only artist, album or track names and public identifiers such as MBID or ISRC, never a location, account or device identifier. App Store (StoreKit): the one-time purchase and its restoration are handled entirely by Apple; RoadSonic never sees your payment details. You can prevent every call except to your own servers by not connecting Apple Music and by working offline; enrichment lookups are skipped when the network is unavailable.

Network security

Connections use HTTPS. Unencrypted HTTP is refused unless the address belongs to your local network and you explicitly enable “Allow unencrypted local HTTP”. Subsonic authentication uses the salted-token scheme so that your password is never transmitted.

Permissions

Media & Apple Music: requested only when you connect Apple Music. Local network: requested only when you add a server on a local address. Files: folders you pick are copied into the app; RoadSonic does not browse your files otherwise. Siri & Shortcuts: intents run on the device; nothing is sent to RoadSonic. RoadSonic does not request location, contacts, photos, microphone, camera or notifications.

Children

RoadSonic is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Because RoadSonic holds no data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete on your behalf; you control everything from the app. Under the GDPR you may nevertheless contact us at contact@roadsonic.com with any question. If you email support, we keep the exchange only as long as needed to help you.

Changes

Any material change to this policy will be published on this page with a new date and mentioned in the App Store release notes.
